Here is a list of tips to help you use energy more efficiently and reduce monthly expenditure on energy and help the Global Warming process.
Refrigerators
These are the biggest consumers of energy in the home all year round!
How long has your refrigerator? Compared with a new refrigerator, one of the age of 10 years may cost twice as much in energy costs and a 20-year-old can cost triple.
Whichever model you choose, keep it running efficiently.
Make sure the rubber gasket seal the door tightly and adjust the temperature control to the middle position. Too low a temperature is too expensive.
Is not gonna be home for awhile? May consider leaving off the refrigerator, turning can result in significant savings. If you decide to turn it off, do not forget to leave the door open.
Air Conditioners
This is the largest consumer of electricity in the summer!
Adjust the unit to an intermediate position and use a thermostat to ensure that not less than 20 º C.
Keep filters clean.
Turn the unit off when you leave the office or room. It is cheaper to re-cool a room that keep it cool all day.
Use a timer switch and set it to turn the air conditioner 10 minutes before you return, so as to disconnect in the afternoon and stop by forgetting to stay on until the other day.
Lighting
New technology light the way to saving!
Use natural light. It's free. Open the curtains or blinds and let sunlight warm the room.
Replace old incandescent bulbs with new compact fluorescent bulbs. You get the same amount of light to a quarter of the cost.
Use timer switches to provide security and save when you are away from home.
Quarter does not shine too. To decide whether to spare light, turn a table lamp or loosen a light bulb fluorescent ceiling and see if you notice the difference. You'll save energy and money.
Cleaning cooking equipment and stoves, ovens, dryers and water heaters (water heaters) are the second largest energy consumer.
Before using the washer, dryer or dishwasher, wait until you have enough to fill the machine.
Washers and dryers have lint filters, be sure to keep them clean.
When cooking, resist the temptation to open the oven often. Each time you open, the temperature drops 25 degrees.
If you only consume hot water once a day, you should control your on and off with a timer switch. Repair leaky water faucets. Regardless of how heated the water
